Stop Teaching AI to Click Buttons: Building Agent-Ready Apps with Angular & WebMCP
AI agents are getting very good at understanding the web - but actually interacting with web applications is still surprisingly primitive.
Today, agents often have to look at the DOM, find buttons and inputs, imitate clicks, and hope that the UI hasn't changed.
WebMCP proposes a different future: instead of forcing AI agents to understand our user interfaces, web applications can expose structured tools that agents can discover and invoke directly.
And Angular is already experimenting with native support for it.
In this talk, we'll explore WebMCP from the ground up and see how Angular applications can expose their capabilities directly to AI agents. We'll build WebMCP tools using Angular's dependency injection system, make tools available only within specific routes, and see how Angular Signal Forms can become AI-accessible tools almost automatically.
Along the way, we'll discuss what this emerging standard could mean for the architecture of web applications when our users are no longer just humans - but AI agents too.
